Construction is underway for The Bartolotta Restaurants newest concept, The Rumpus Room, a gastro pub which will combine unique flavors, an expansive selection of craft beers and a casual atmosphere located at 1030 N. Water Street.
The Rumpus Room will take over the site of Eagan’s restaurant which closed this past May.
The Bartolotta Restaurants owner, Joe Bartolotta, recalls fond memories of lively gatherings and the energetic atmosphere of his fathers tavern.
The new pubs name, The Rumpus Room, was inspired by the tavern Joe’s father established and ran for nine years, in the mid 1950s and early 1960s at 29th St. and North Ave. The name Rumpus Room means a place where people come together for entertainment, fun, camaraderie and recreation.
My dad provided inspiration for my work with The Bartolotta Restaurants and opening The Rumpus Room is one way we can pay tribute to his influence on our organization and the community. said Joe Bartolotta.
The new gastro pub is an opportunity to embrace a casual dining experience that combines your favorite restaurant and bar, unites them together with elements of reasonably priced quality food in a comfortable bar environment.
The group will lean on the experience of a few of their current distinguished chefs to extend an already expansive array of culinary offerings. Under the direction of Paul Bartolotta and Corporate Chef Adam Siegel, Bacchus Chef de Cuisine, Andrew Ruiz, will take the role as Executive Chef of The Rumpus Room.
The Rumpus Room is set to open in Fall, 2011.

Back in March we were the first to tell you about a fire that ruined the iconic sign that welcomed passers by on Kinnickinnic Ave. in Bay View for almost 15 years.
Well I am happy to report that an exact replica of the sign has been installed.
Long live the Hi-Fi sign.

Milwaukeeans love its street food
Every Friday afternoon hundreds gather at Cathedral Square Park (along with close to a dozen food truck vendors) for the uber-popular Food Truck Friday.
Today, Milwaukee can add another weekday food truck gathering …Take Out Tuesday at the Schlitz Park office complex from 11am-2pm.
All of your favorite food trucks will be there parked on Cherry St. across from the Manpower headquarters.
Trucks signed on so far include Fast Foodie, Pita Brothers, Tigerbite, Satellite Crepes and Streetza Pizza.

You know Summer is in our sights when we post this story.
As in the past, the Bartolotta’s Northpoint Burgers and Custard on North Lincoln Memorial Drive will once again celebrate its grand opening for the season by giving away 200 free hamburgers. Sides, beverages, custard and additional sandwiches will be available for purchase.
Starting at 11:00am today (May 21), one free cheeseburger will be given to the first 200 people in line.
