A new pizza restaurant will be opening soon Downtown.
Brick 3 will be located at 1105-07 N. Old World Third St., inside the former space of the African Hut.
The African Hut closed in February, 2008 after more than 15 years in business. You can read the Feb, 2008 MilwaukeeFood.com blog announcing its closing here.
Mr. Rick Barrett and partner Mr. Tanlo have an opening date planned for the end of November.
How did you choose the restaurant name? "We are located on Old World Third St, which has Cobblestone brick laid on it, and we'll be using a stainless-steel brick oven which bakes a consistant pizza, and they';re fast," Barrett explains.
Construction is now in full swing and the entire space has been gutted.
"We hired a pizza chef with over 26 years of experience cooking pizzas. Later this month he'll be traveling to New York to visit a consulting firm on how to prepare the perfect 22 inch pie," Barrett explains.
"During home games at the Bradley Center or Cell, customers can pick up a slice or a pizza pie before the game. We wanted to be doing one thing (pizza), and doing it well. Our prices will be very reasonable as well," Barrett added.
Brick 3's menu will serve pizza (by the slice, by the pie, par-baked on request), salads, tap beer and soda.
Brick 3 will serve food Monday-Wednesday from 11am-10pm and Thursday-Saturday from 11am-3am.
Brick 3 should do very well with any late-nighters in the area. Old World Third Street has a thriving nightlife Thur-Sat with the recent opening of Bootlegger’s and with mainstays like Have a Nice Day and Buckhead Saloon.
